Maria Sole Barbieri

Since 2020, Maria Sole Barbieri is a PhD Researcher in the History department at the European University Institute in Florence. For the academic year 2023/2024 she is Tutor in the International History course, taught by Dr Angela Romano in the University of Bologna and Enseignante Vacataire in the Master Énergie, Écologie, Société in Université Paris Cité, Paris, France. Her thesis deals with French and Italian energy policies in the aftermath of the oil shock of 1973, their positions towards the European Community’s energy strategy and the creation and development of the International Energy Agency. In 2023 she was Exchange Researcher at SciencesPo Paris. She holds degrees in history and contemporary history from the University of Pisa, with exchange at the University of Leicester (UK). Her interests include international relations, energy politics, European integration, transatlantic relations, international organizations, US history.
